#1 user-defined dictionaries problems

I am trying to build a spell-checker for chemistry

my problem is that I cannot get user-defined
dictionaries larger than 2000 words
and I don't find any technical information about the
requirement for such a dictionary file *.dic

Any help (and your group seems especially suited) would
be highly appreciated.
