Hi Bill,

iMath is supported for LibreOffice on Ubuntu. So you shouldn't be having
problems (in a perfect world).

What puzzles me is that the library is being loaded from
.config/libreoffice/4/. Ubuntu standard is LO 5.1.4. Have you installed
libreoffice from the official ubuntu packages?

Did you install the imath .deb package? If yes, try instead downloading
the .oxt from Sourceforge

https://sourceforge.net/projects/ooo-imath/files/iMath-2.1.

and installing it in LO through Extras-Extension Manager.

In any case, let me know the result so that I can investigate further.

As near as I can tell, I'm using the official Ubuntu packages (currently 
at 5.1.4-0ubuntu1) for LibreOffice. I can't say why the config folder is 
at "4" instead of "5". Other extensions do install to this folder.

I tried installing OXT files (versions 2.1.2 and 2.1.4) downloaded from 
SourceForge for iMath.

I installed eqc and libeqc from the PPA
    http://ppa.launchpad.net/jrheinlaender/ppa/ubuntu

I also installed (from default Ubuntu repositories)
    texlive
    texlive-fonts-recommended
    texlive-science

I edited the eqc-tour.tex so that the input and style files are all 
pulled from
   /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/eqc
instead of ../examples. This runs with eqc with warning about variable u 
having 2 values. Running the eqc-tour.eqc file through LaTeX eventually 
makes a dvi file that I can view. Looks OK.

I also double-checked that I have a Java installation that LibreOffice 
can use (oracle-java8 from webupd8).

Hi Bill,

thanks for the detailed error information. EQC certainly looks OK.

Have you tried this:

- Uninstall imath through the Libreoffice extension manager interface
(in case an old version is still installed)

- sudo apt-get install imath

This will install imath globally (for all users) on your system. It
works for me on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

I haven't upgraded to 16.04 yet. But I will soon so that I can check on
this problem (or put it in a virtual machine).

What I also found is that some problems go away if you completely remove
(better: rename) the

.config/libreoffice/4/

folder (maybe /5/ too). But of course this will loose all your
LibreOffice settings so it is only useful to limit the possible error
sources.
