I wanted to add some more units to my configuration (km, MHz, GHz). My iMath extension is installed in (Ubuntu Linux 16.04) /usr/lib/libreoffice/share/extension/ In the "imath" directory I found a units.imath file that I edited to contain the extra unit definitions. The definition for kilometers is %%ii UNITDEF{"km", %km = 10^3 %metre} But saving my km defition had no effect in iMath. I also tried to edit the units.imath file embedded in the oxt file in the install directory. No effect. So then I just pulled out my definitions and dropped them into a new file (myunits.imath) and in iMath...Document Options I selected this file (myunits.imath). Success! So I've found one way to accomplish having my own units, but I'm wondering if this is the preferred way. In a similar vein, I'm also curious where I should store physical constants (such as speed of light, Planck's constant, etc)? Bill Eaton Thousand Oaks, California |

I got a chance to try installing iMath again today on Ubuntu 16.04. I installed from PPA and it works as expected. Now I have to learn how to use your wonderful Extension. Nice! I can't wait to try when I get a chance at work. I was going to try installing from PPA on Friday, but got too busy. Bill On Aug 13, 2016 1:05 PM, "Jan Rheinländer" <jrh...@gm...> wrote: Hi Bill, just now I installed Ubuntu 16.04.1 into a virtual machine. Then I removed imath again sudo apt-get --purge remove imath and installed the .oxt directly in the extension manager. This gave me the same error message as you posted. The reason is that the GiNaC version (on which EQC is built) had an incompatible version change between Ubuntu 14.04 and Ubuntu 16.04. So I uploaded a new iMath-2.1.4-libginac5.oxt package that works in my 16.04 virtual machine. Hope this package works for you, too! Thank you for reporting the problem! Jan |

Hi Bill, just now I installed Ubuntu 16.04.1 into a virtual machine. Then I added the PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jrheinlaender/ppa sudo apt-get update and did sudo apt-get install imath This went through without errors and iMath worked. Jan |

Hi Bill, thanks for the detailed error information. EQC certainly looks OK. Have you tried this: - Uninstall imath through the Libreoffice extension manager interface (in case an old version is still installed) - sudo apt-get install imath This will install imath globally (for all users) on your system. It works for me on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS I haven't upgraded to 16.04 yet. But I will soon so that I can check on this problem (or put it in a virtual machine). What I also found is that some problems go away if you completely remove (better: rename) the .config/libreoffice/4/ folder (maybe /5/ too). But of course this will loose all your LibreOffice settings so it is only useful to limit the possible error sources. Jan Rheinländer |

Hi Jan, Thank you for responding. > What puzzles me is that the library is being loaded from > .config/libreoffice/4/. Ubuntu standard is LO 5.1.4. Have > you installed> libreoffice from the official ubuntu packages? As near as I can tell, I'm using the official Ubuntu packages (currently at 5.1.4-0ubuntu1) for LibreOffice. I can't say why the config folder is at "4" instead of "5". Other extensions do install to this folder. > Did you install the imath .deb package? If yes, try > instead downloading the .oxt from Sourceforge > https://sourceforge.net/projects/ooo-imath/files/iMath-2.1. > and installing it in LO through Extras-Extension Manager. I tried installing OXT files (versions 2.1.2 and 2.1.4) downloaded from SourceForge for iMath. I installed eqc and libeqc from the PPA http://ppa.launchpad.net/jrheinlaender/ppa/ubuntu I also installed (from default Ubuntu repositories) texlive texlive-fonts-recommended texlive-science I edited the eqc-tour.tex so that the input and style files are all pulled from /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/eqc instead of ../examples. This runs with eqc with warning about variable u having 2 values. Running the eqc-tour.eqc file through LaTeX eventually makes a dvi file that I can view. Looks OK. I also double-checked that I have a Java installation that LibreOffice can use (oracle-java8 from webupd8). Bill Eaton Thousand Oaks, California |

Hi Bill, iMath is supported for LibreOffice on Ubuntu. So you shouldn't be having problems (in a perfect world). What puzzles me is that the library is being loaded from .config/libreoffice/4/. Ubuntu standard is LO 5.1.4. Have you installed libreoffice from the official ubuntu packages? Did you install the imath .deb package? If yes, try instead downloading the .oxt from Sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/ooo-imath/files/iMath-2.1. and installing it in LO through Extras-Extension Manager. In any case, let me know the result so that I can investigate further. Jan |

Is iMath only supported for Open Office? I just tried to install on LibreOffice on Linux (64 bit Ubuntu 16.04) today and I got the error: loading component library <file:///home/<username>/.config/libreoffice/4/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/lu12522nr1xhj.tmp_/iMath-2.1.4.oxt/Linux_x86_64/iMath-2.1.4-LINUX.uno.so> failed I got almost the same error when I tried to install 2.1.2. I installed the EQC libraries from the PPA. Here's the output of "apt list --installed |grep eqc" eqc/xenial,now 1.4.18-0~44~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64 [installed] libeqc/xenial,now 1.4.18-0~44~ubuntu16.04.1 amd64 [installed, automatic] -- Bill Eaton Thousand Oaks, California |
