Description

The idea is to create a tool to easily edit a screenshot with
lines, circles, boxes, arrows, and callouts without
using complex tools like the Gimp.

Prototype

Initially, I did a proof of concept to do a few basic functions:

  1. reads an image from command line
  2. Draws on the image:
    • circles
    • lines
    • boxes
    • arrows
    • notes
  3. Every action is undoable (control-z)
  4. Saves the image as pic2.png in your home directory.

Guiding Light Principle

  1. Make the UI extremely simple to use.
    • For example, most operations can be done with 2-3 mouse clicks, and easily undone with control-z.
  2. Make the elements elegant.
    • The resulting screenshot should be presentable to your boss/client
  3. Simple options for elements with sane defaults.
    • A few color selections, sizes, styles.

Setup

It should easily install on any windows system, just download the executable and it will install in the program directory. It will also place an icon on your desktop.
