Use the espgs from the CVS. I have the little brother of your printer (LQ-570+)
I had the same error:
"Error: Could not load libomni.so"
Using the espgs from the CVS fixed it. I have a Panasonic KX-P2124 which can emulate a an LQ-860. If you check the mailing lists archive there are several messages relating to the "load libomni.so" error.
