In comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.announce, there was a recent announcement for support for the S630 with Japanese messages. It's a starting point, I suppose, for those who want to work on a Linux port.

Does the F30 use the same driver as the F50? I have an
F50 and would like to get it to work, at least as a printer.
USB would be nice, but I could live with parallel.

This printer apparently (accoding to a Canon sales rep) has an S630 as its print engine inside it. The link to the S630 is http://consumer.usa.canon.com/bjc/s630/index.html.
The F30 link is at http://consumer.usa.canon.com/multi/mpf30/index.html
I'll gladly take printer-only support now and let another project eventually (or not :-)) support the scanner portion.
