Using the Windows tool RW-Anything, I managed to confirm for the M115 that the brightness value is contained in the EC at offset 0xA3, and is between 0x00 and 0x07. Problem is that simply setting this value isn't enough to apply the brightness. There's some other command that the Toshiba tools send that actually applies the change. (This can be seen by setting the value and using the hotkeys in Windows. The result is that the brightness will jump to the value you set.)
For reference, my DMI strings are:
BIOS Vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD
BIOS Version: 1.00
BIOS Release: 08/31/2006
System Vendor: TOSHIBA
Product Name: Satellite M115
Serial Number: 96316113Q
Board Vendor: Intel Corporation
Board Name: Not Applicable
I've attached the DSDT table from the BIOS as well.
