Omnibiff 0.60 is now available. This release fixes the hotmail and yahoo monitors, and adds support for ZipLip.com and LycosMail (mail.lycos.com). It also allows the passwords stored in the properties files to be encrypted. And, it now uses autoconf so that you can install with the conventional configure, make, make install.
There are quite a few changes to the process of installing and operating omnibiff, so be sure to take a look at the README and INSTALL files.
This release includes three new bifflets and two new skins. The bifflets are for: Alta-Vista.com, Go.com, and BusinessWeekMail.com. The skins provide interfaces for external clients and provide a way to act as a proxy for other biff programs. A WindowMaker applet and a client interface library are included.
Support for Hotmail has been added. All HTTP-based bifflets have been rewritten using a session-playback class from Surfboard, which allows bifflets to be created with XML instead of writing code. JDK 1.2 or higher is now required.
OmniBiff 0.30 adds support for IMAP4 via a new (contributed!) bifflet. Also: perfomance fixes for Unix bifflet, fixed false-positives with the My-Deja bifflet, and updated the Excite bifflet to keep in sync with their website.
Added bifflet for My-Deja email, and updated the Excite and Visto bifflets.
Coming soon: a new skin that relays info through sockets. This will facilitate non-Java front-ends, and will also allow omnibiff to be run remotely (i.e. on your ISP) while displaying on a skin running locally.
I've moved the source to CVS, and several updates are now available there including updated versions of Visto and Excite bifflets, and a new My-Deja.com bifflet. Also the HTTP helper class now has proxy support.
The first version of omnibiff is available for download; currently it can monitor UNIX mail, POP3 servers, yahoo.com, excite.com, and visto.com. Any feedback is welcome.
