The 2.6.17 code off which the 2.6.22 line was based was flagged as not being SMP safe. It is reasonable to expect that it still is not.

Given the availability of multi-core systems, and the increased use they will have in openmosix clusters, this is a very important enhancement.

    I already have 2 dirt cheap ($50-60USD) AMD64 X2 Brisbanes CPUs for my hardware, so this is definitely something I'd like to make sure is in.

    I think this deserves a higher priority. Multi-core systems are highly available now, and this needs to be fixed before more issues cause further complications.

    Additionally, multi-core systems can benefit more from this project than single core ones can.
