The project is barely started right now. We've got a little bit of a design and a lot of hopes.
I've got a contact with the Cam's DoT through one of his ADoT's that should help get an 'yes or no' from that level. I haven't talked with OWBN yet to see if they want in on it.
Even if everyone with any official position on the two clubs says 'no' we'll go ahead and build it anyway because more people than just the big clubs can use this thing.
I figure we'll get some real design docs up sometime in the next month or so, it's been a little busy around here with other projects.
That and I have to get my ARST report done.
Why, interested in helping?

I'm interested. My programming knowledge is limited to C and PHP, but I'd be interested in helping in any way I can. I'm an experienced alpha and beta tester, both professionally (part of my job requirement) and on the side.
I wouldn't worry about the "big clubs" too much. As long as there isn't a whole lot infringement, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm in one of them (Camarilla) and plan on getting them to use this. I want it to be general enough (like Grapevine) that anyone can use it for smaller scale games. Don games come to mind as a perfect use, I should get ahold of Nocturn and Dark Duality about that one.
I can bring you on as a tester/programmer if you want to help, we're starting the discussion about the DB schema right now.

I'd be glad to come on as a tester and/or programmer. I'd like to hear more about what it will do. I guess a big question is this, how is it going to be different than Grapevine, which is a very popular tool right now?

If you look in the Developer forum you'll see a cut and paste of the origional pitch that got us the Source Forge site.
the big things it will do differently:
1) Character validation -- It will tell you when you've gone over points, how many you have left, and if you need approvals higher than your local ST (for OWBN and Cam) for something you're trying to purchase
2) Client/Server architecture -- You can get to your characters from any computer in the world, so you never have to worry about leaving your data at home when you go to a Con or an away game.
3) Hirearchial permissions -- In larger organizations there are limits to what the local ST's can approve, this system will be able to be told what those limits are and do such wonderful things as e-mail the proper people to make sure you have all your approvals in a row.
4) Tie in with personal information -- Full database of every player you have, and all their info. Need to e-mail all players of Tremere? No problem. Need to distribute by e-mail rumors based on a specific ability, discipline, or influence? Those lists can be generated quickly and efficently.

So, are you guys just starting this project? What's the status? Can you tell us more?

That's Con games...
This thing needs an edit command.
