Hi, I'm interest in KVM over IP with USB virtual media support, and I found OKVM very promising, so I was thinking how to make OKVM support USB virtual media remote access, how USB virtual media remote access work and how we can add it to OKVM, could some one advice. You can find many commercial KVM/IP with USB virtual media remote access, so how we can do our own. Thanks -- Best regards Ayman Hendawy Embedded system engineer http://www.linkedin.com/pub/ayman-hendawy/28/375/b5 Cairo,Egypt Phone: +201110406659 |

You need to provide your own linux system to use it, and it is very experimental and most certainly not production quality. Once you put it into a linux system and build/install the software and drivers, you can then control another system using a VNC connection to to the OKVM enable system. My guess is that okvm is not currently going to meet you needs :-) Cheers, Davidm -- David McCullough <da...@us...> Ph:+61 3435 2815 http://www.uCdot.org |

I've used the standard Belkin KVM before, so I'm familiar with regular KVM. I'm excited about this, but I don't understand necessarily.. hopefully you'll chuckle and respond well to my ignorance. My assumption is this: I have a keyboard, mouse, and a monitor and an openkvm box(?) as well as somewhere remotely is sitting a computer just waiting to be controlled by these things. The openkvm box connects to the keyboard, mouse, and monitor and an ethernet cable(?) that is connected to the great internets. This is where my understanding gets a little fuzzy ... this little box boots linux and probably gives me the ability to assign DHCP or static address, then asks me where my remote VNC server is and uses vncviewer/ssh to connect to that remote VNC server and then I can login and be right at my remote computer with no problems? Is this correct? What is the footprint of this box, and does is use any fans? Can I use a touch screen lcd and not use a keyboard/mouse? If I have multiple openkvm boxes and multiple touchscreens.. can I control different vnc sessions on one computer? I'd like to wrap my head around this to use for our Point-of-Sale system. Thanks alot, I realize this is a 'devel' mail list.. and I'm obviously hardly a 'devel'. -Andy |

Hi all, Well it's taken a while but the first release of the OKVM-pci source code is now available for download (or via CVS). http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=115479&package_id=168857 There are three files in the package: okvm-0.2.tar.gz - the source code okvm-internal-doc-20051107.zip - the HW design and associated information okvm-external-doc-20051107.zip - All the freely available doc for the components on the card. If you are looking to get a PCI dev board, sa...@op... should have them available for approximately $200USD. There is still plenty to do on the project, but this provides a a fairly solid, working KVM/IP, albeit a little slow. Hi all, Just thought I'd send around a progress update on the OKVM hardware bringup. We have video capture running (frame rate is still a little slow). Here is a link to a jpg where you can see VNC displaying a 1024x768 desktop captured with the OKVM card. http://okvm.sourceforge.net/img/vnc-capture.jpg We also have the basic keyboard/mouse HW support working in the driver, we just need to get all of this hooked up at the same time :-) The Card is also being demo'd at Linux World (SFO) is anyone is near by and wants a look. Still lots to be done :-) Cheers, Davidm -- David McCullough <da...@op...> Ph:+61 0410560763 http://www.uCdot.org opengear - Secure Server Management http://www.opengear.com |

The best thing will be to get a newer version up there. I'll get to it as soon as I can. Hi all, I tried to have a look at the code for OKVM a few weeks back. The uboot files were fine, but there is also a diff against uClinux in the "unreleased" section of sourceforge. The README starts out: This release is provides a patch against the uClinux-dist release: http://www.uclinux.org/pub/uClinux/dist/uClinux-dist-test-20040930.tar.gz Unfortunately, this release of uClinux is no longer avilable, and there is no such tag in the CVS repository. Can we get either an appropriate copy of uClinux or a patch a against a newer version of uClinux? This patch was committed in February so there is every chance it is out of date anyway. Scott Burns |
