I'm trying to find a Linux media player with media recognition that shows c= over art. My friend just installed Plutohome.org, an open source Linux media project.= Whenever he inserts a CD or DVD, it recognizes the disc and displays the = cover art, along with detailed attributes, like the names of the chapters i= n a DVD, or the studio for a CD, like a Windows XP Media Center does. It a= lso seems to cache this locally since the next time he puts the disc in the= recognition is instant; first time there's a 2 second delay or so. I didn= 't know there was such a free system for Linux. I only knew about freedb, = which works only for cd's, isn't nearly as accurate, and doesn't have cover= art or other extended data. Why don't we do the same thing? Since Plutoh= ome.org is open source, is there any chance you can copy the code into your= player? I don't want to install Pluto-home because it has so much stuff I= don't need (home automation, phone system, media streaming, etc.). I only= want this for the media player in my normal desktop pc.=20 Thanks --=20 _______________________________________________ NEW! Lycos Dating Search. Hi, I recently downloaded okle and I have two questions regarding it: 1. I first checked out okle from cvs, but could not build it, because there is no configure or autogen.sh file. The INSTALL file says to run configure; why is it missing in CVS? 2. Why can't you install okle someplace else than where the kde files are? I first ran configure without arguments and it worked fine, but I like to install stuff I compile myself in /usr/local. So I ran "configure --prefix=/usr/local", but, like it says in Note 3 on the webpage, the icons are all gone now. Thanks in advance for your answers, Levin |
