No

My top level oddjob.xml file contains

<oddjob id = "oddjob-client" name = "Client Workstation">...</oddjob>

When I open this file in the Oddjob Explorer, the job tree shows a node called "client.xml" (the name of the file).

If I specify name="Client Workstation," shouldn't that take precedence over the filename?

Agreed. This get's worse with version 0.24.0 because name isn't supported as a top level element.
