The First OFBiz Users Conference

I am excited to announce the first OFBiz Users Conference in Provo, Utah hosted by Automation Groups, Inc (AGi, see www.automationgroups.com). This conference is for those who are using or thinking of using OFBiz.

The conference will run for one and a half days on Friday the 25th of April, 2003 and Saturday the 26th. There will be a munch & mingle get-together the evening before (on Thursday) to meet and mingle, and some free time on Saturday afternoon to network in smaller groups and discuss opportunities related to OFBiz and other great open source tools.

There will be key note speeches by Andy Zeneski and myself on Friday morning. You'll get a chance to hear about the history of OFBiz and about what we are planning on for the near future as well as the long range "dreams" we have for the project. You'll also get a chance to hear about what has been done with OFBiz and even meet some of the people that have been involved in doing those things.

The rest of the conference will include time to meet in smaller groups to discuss different aspects of OFBiz and to brainstorm about solutions to common problems or issues that people are running into as they implement and use the software.

On Saturday morning Al Byers from AGi will spend some time presenting a tool he has been working on to make it easier to manage all of the XML configuration and definition files that are used in OFBiz. His tool is called AG409 and a free preliminary copy will be given to those who attend the conference.

We are trying to keep the conference as easy and affordable to attend as possible, so the attendance fee will be just $50 to cover the cost of the meeting room and some other details. There is even a chance we'll be able to get some t-shirts or hats or something... Please register at least two weeks in advance.

The conference will be in the Provo, Utah Marriott Hotel. Rooms there are about $109 per night, but there are some less expensive accomodations nearby. To get there fly into the Salt Lake City International Airport and take a shuttle or rental car to Provo (about 45 minutes away).

This is a beautiful rocky mountain area, especially in the Spring-time. For those interested in spending more time in the Salt Lake or Utah Valley area, let me know and I'll help you find some interesting things to see and do.

As another bonus, Andy and I will be offering official OFBiz training classes before and after the conference. The schedule is as follows:

- Tuesday April 22nd: OFBiz Applications Basics
- Wednesday April 23rd: OFBiz Deployment and Configuration
- Thursday April 24th: Open Source For Business Seminar
(The OFBiz Users Conference on Friday & Saturday)
- Mondey-Tuesday April 28-29th: Basic Technical (Framework & Apps)
- Wednesday-Friday April 30th-May 2nd: Advanced Framework

See the www.ofbiz.org site for more information, and email us if you are interested. Pricing follow our standard arrangement for individual as well as multiple classes: $800 for the first day and $400 for each following day per person. That's right, you can get all 8 days of training for just $3600. Also, we will pay the Users Conference entry fee for anyone attending training.

I'll see you there!
