Some of my gzip’ed image files have become unreadable. I say “have become” because I know that I’ve restored them in the past and I verify each image after I create it. 6 of my 15 images are now unreadable. If I try to verify them, the system hangs at 0% complete before an estimated Time Left is every populated; so, I’m speculating that something simple is wrong with the internal file. The physical disk & files seem to be Okay per DOS and Windows utilities; so, I think it’s an internal issue.
Does anyone know how to read an IMG file outside of ODIN? I was hoping the compression was fixable. I’ve tried 7zip, but it won’t recognize the file.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Unfortunately, gzip won’t read the IMG file produced by ODIN. When I referenced gzip above, I used the ODIN compression option during the backup process, not outside of the program. Does anyone know how to mount or view the image file?
