No

Application version(s) used (XP/2003/2007) - XP

OS version(s) used (Windows 2000, XP, Vista) - XP

Add-In Version - 2.5

Is this a roundtrip conversion? - I don't know what that means, so no!

Is the error reproducible (Y/N)? - Oh sure!

Degree of occurence (rarely/casually/systematic) - Systematic

Severity (Would be Nice/Irritating/No GO) - no GO

Type of bug (Install/Localisation/Crash/Conversion/Ergonomy/Other) - I think Install or Conversion?

What was the problem? - Well, this didn't work! I downloaded and installed the entire thing per the directions. Rebooted, set settings, yay! In excel, I go to open odf, and click the file I'm into, but it doesn't work. i get the same error message from excel that i was getting this morning before I even heard of this add-in ("unsupported file type" etc.) except now I get an ADDITIONAL error message on top of that one, saying "feel free to report a bug at odf-converter.sourceforge.net"). Feel free? ok. Anyway, entries (save as odf, open odf, and odf options) are still there. they just don't do anything, and it doesn't work. wtf.

Where is the problem (sheet/page/header/footer/etc...)? - EVERYWHERE!

Step-by-step procedure to generate the error? file>open odf>!e!r!r!o!r!

What is the expected Result? - as i said - see above

Please provide the document that caused the error (if any)! - no sweat, here's two! one is the one I want to open, one was downloaded from sourceforge.net for the express purpose of checking the system. or that's what I thought when i downloaded it.

i forgot another aspect of this problem -

to further test the issue, i opened an excel file in excel, and used "save as .odf"

now, i don't know if this was supposed to create a separate file called x.ods, but i still only had x.xls.

so, attempting to "open odf" the newly "saved as .odf" file, I got another error message saying that this file did not appear to be a valid OASIS open office document." when i opened it normally it just worked.

so i don't think anything converted/translated in the first place.

"so, attempting to "open odf" the newly "saved as .odf" file, I got another
error message saying that this file did not appear to be a valid OASIS open
office document." when i opened it normally it just worked." ---- means when i opened x.xls normally through excel, it opened x.xls. there was no x.ods anywhere, it was stupid, and this makes me want to cry.

    Hi Sheridan,

thanks for reporting this issue. It seems that you might not have the latest Windows and Office updates installed on your system.

Please visit Microsoft Update and install all recommended updates, both for Windows and Office.

Then please make sure that the Office Compatibility Pack is installed (However, this should be the case because the Add-in setup will do that).

When all updates are applied correctly you should find the OpenXML formats in the list of formats when calling the "Save As..." command, i.e. the following entry must be present:

    "Excel 2007 Workbook (*.xslx)"

If this entry is not present, there is something wrong with your Office installation and the add-in won't work.

Since there has not been any further input we assume that the problem has been solved meanwhile.

If your problem still occurs, please let us know by posting another comment.

    Regards
