Shout out the the great programmers of OM!
I'd love to see if there's a way to hook data from other planning apps on the front end of the observing chain and perhaps blog posting on the back end?!
thanks for your feedback! Great to hear this app is usable for you!
The xml based dataformat (COMAST) is currently under version 2.0 development. Also some (more) planning software will support the dataformat with the next version. (e.g.: Deep Sky Planner (http://knightware.biz/dsp/) and the new english version of Eye&Telescope (currently only available in german: http://www.oculum.de/oculum/seiten.asp?ID=2110200810144207&Nr=11&Thema=10\))
Also the online portal DeepSky (http://www.deepskylog.org) is currently implementing COMAST support.
So data exchange should be way more simple in the future. :-)
On integrating into other planning or chart software for OM I also have some ideas. I esp. would like to have some integration into Cartes du Ciel.
(Click on a target in OM, and CdC shows up the chart. Or you're in CdC right click on an object and you see how many observations you already logged (or just create a new log for that object).
But this is currently not under development. (This integration makes way more sense for CdC 3.0 which is currently under development)
However I'm working on the next Observation Manager version, that'll bring some major new features, like supporting of some new target types like variable stars. Incl. an export into AAVSO data format, and a magnitude chart generation for variable stars.
Also some major performance improvements took place, (saving files is now much quicker) together with some configurations and usability improvements.
So there's a lot to come in the future... :-)
