We currently have a term for impaired sperm capacitation but not for abnormal sperm capacitation. I need to annotate a phenotype of premature acrosome reaction (J:204187) so I would like to suggest we create terms for:
abnormal sperm capacitation
def: any anomaly in the process undergone by spermatozoa in the female genital tract that enables them to penetrate and fertilize an egg

abnormal acrosome reaction
def: abnormality in the cellular exocytosis that allows sperm to penetrate the zona pellucida of ovulated eggs (This is currently the definition of impaired acrosome reaction so we'll need to correct this situation)
child of abnormal sperm capacitation
and make the term impaired acrosome reaction a child of this term

premature acrosome reaction
def: spontaneous initiation of the cellular exocytosis that allows sperm to penetrate the zona pellucida of ovulated eggs, occurring prior to encountering conditions that induce sperm capacitation
child of abnormal acrosome reaction
This phenotype occurs in J:204187 and a few exisiting annotations to abnormal sperm physiology

Thanks,
Sue
