Details:

Headline: editor tries to open directory
Description: doesn't verify that the selected file from the FileChooser is not actually a directory... perhaps the best solution is to add to AbstractFileFilter a way to indicate that the file should be shown, but the "Open"/"Save" buttons are disabled while they are selected.  The default implementation would be to not select directories, since most places don't want directories to be selected, but it can be overriden when needed
