A new beta release of OpenBiblio has just been released last Saturday, August 9th (see http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50071). Please be aware that this is a beta release intended for demo purposes only. Please do not use this for production installations since future versions will not offer functionality to convert older beta version databases to the latest format.

Included in beta release 0.3.0 are the following new features:
- Compatibility with PHP 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. Unfortunately, version 0.3.0 is no longer backward compatible with PHP 4.1.x (due to session variable changes in PHP 4.2).
- Internationalization (i18n) on a few pages. This is not complete yet but the base structure is all there.
- Automatic database table creation from a PHP page. See updated install_instructions.html.
- OPAC functionality
- implemented customizable title image in header.

Future Changes:
In our next minor point release (0.4.x) we will completely overhaul the bibliography database structure to separate bibliography and copy information. Also, we are planning on separating out a lot of the USMarc fields into a separate extension table to speed searches and to make the database more flexible for future USMarc standard changes. Also, we are also getting close to finalizing our workflow processes for various bibliography status changes and hold lists.

Thank your for you interest in OpenBiblio.
