Hello

I am having a major problem with the NXT Cam view V0.2.1. I have been using it for months without problems until one day I was using it and the whole application crashed when trying to select the correct com port. I then tried to execute the program again, but it brought up an error report, and continues to do this every time i execute the app.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the problem persists to bring up the error message on execution. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many times and have cleaned the registry every time, reinstalled the NXT Cam Drivers, and even run a disk cleanup to look for corrupted files, but no luck.

The day this happened was the day that windows update had me install service packs to .net framework, don't know if this helps or is just a coincidence.

I was able to revert back to v0.2.0 and it seems to work fine. Could you look into this problem, I use the NXT cam frequently with my NXT and wish it fixed soon.

Thanks for the help B-)
Scott

That doesn't sound good. It would be good to see some logging for this. Could you please download "DebugView" from sysinternals.com web site and run it before performing a crashing startup. This will capture logging info produced by NXTCamView while it is running. Save the log to a file and upload/attach it to this bug report.

Also - could you please let me know what service pack/hotfix was applied whe nthe problem started.

    Regards, Paul

    Hi Paul

I downloaded the DebugView and ran it before I startup NXTCamView but when the program crashes, nothing happens in DebugView and no log is made, do I need to change an option?

    Scott,

Ensure you have DebugView "capturing" before you start NXTCamView. Are you seeing anything in it? you should see some logging as the app starts up.

Hmm, I don't get anything when the program crashes, no text appears.

    I installed:
.net framework 2.0 service pack 1
.net framework 3.0 service pack 1

I got the application to work, and now I am very confused. I have never seen a program do this before. I copied NXTCamView.exe to my desktop and it works perfectly, but if I put the same file back into the folder it came from it crashes. I also copied the file and renamed it and that file will work in the same folder, but if I change its name back to its original name it crashes.

Any ideas why the program is doing this?

I have encountered exactly the same problem and renamed the file and will then work.
Has this problem been solved since please?
    Thanks
