i run a system that dose not use eather rpm or apg for
package managment... being that is how it tells if the
dependencys are installed that way none of the install
scripts work. also the scripts dont tell you they dont
work you have to check the log this should also be changed
Well - I'm kind of late here - I apologize.
You are right that the script requires RPM or Apt-get based installations. I didn't think of Slackware - my fault.
And you are right - these days a large group of popular distributions have moved away from those systems
I no longer have access to an IPX server. Well I guess I can set up a Mars-NWE server.
Its August 2009 - I probably won't have time to get to this until a couple of months from now - and I hope I remember.
The deal with that script set is - that it tries to install the dependent applications - then do all of the configuration for you.
Scripts are just commands you would run in the shell anyway -
In your situation - or similar situations - for now - if you can use your distribution's package manager to install the dependencies - its a matter of only running the portions of the scripts that don't deal with package management.
If there is anyone out there that can get the dependencies installed for their distribution (using the shell) copy and paste onto a text file the relevant commands, post it here and I'll incorporate it.
If you are able to modify the relevant modularized script portions to add an option for you distribution, yet preserving past functionality where it exists - by all means - send me the additional plus modified body script and I will add it.
Sorry about my lapse of attention here. The main reason to use this at all - is to get you onto an IPX server.
Its even possible that Novel - made by Ken Conrad could get you there - I don't know if he's added MarsNWE or if he's come up with another way by now - but that it worth checking.
