Hi

"Chrontel has unusual power settings"

I get this message when I start up nvtv (either from
Debian/sid or from cvs).
I think I read about a guy how burnt his Chrontel using
nvtv,
but I can't find the place where I read this.

Can you please tell me what this message means and
wether it is probably save for me to use nvtv?

I have an ASUS 6600 Deluxe.

    Hi.
    I get the same message.
At least until now, the Chrontel on my Asus V3800 works
(well, more or less) with nvtv without getting burnt.

It means the Chrontel chip registers are configured for low
power mode, and I didn't expect that this feature would be
    actually used on PC hardware.

Don't use any old version of nvtv with it. The newer
versions should be safe, assuming that your BIOS did
initialize the chip correctly. However, I can make no
    guarantees.

I'm using nvtv version 0.4.2 from Debian unstable.
I get the message twice during startup.
What do you mean by low power mode? Does nvtv change those
power settings? Can I read them out somehow? What values
    should it have?

Sorry for the late message. I was trying a Matrox card in
    between ;)

If the warning is harmless, maybe you should change this to:
"Note: Chrontel chip is running in low power mode. This is
unusual, but should not pose a problem"

I also have this message and the image on TV is not what I
    expect:
It is sharp but colors are "over saturated" like if the
    output signal was too amplified.

nvtv doesn't let me change saturation, just brightness and
    contrast, but it's not sufficient.

    Is there any solution ?
