Party members don't advance to enemies as well as they should. This file has Dupre and Shamino with front combat type and neither advance even though the enemy is 2 or 3 tiles away.
Combat in the original was really bad so I can't tell for sure if Nuvie is worse with my very limited testing.
I know I would play through with berserk or command so party members act more intelligently.
Here's a save where the monsters don't advance and a neutral party member won't attack
