[Numpy-discussion] Unsigned shorts and ints

I would like to update the Numeric CVS tree to include support for
unsigned shorts and ints.

Making the transition will cause some difficulty with binary extensions
as these will need to be recompiled with the new Numeric.

As a result, I propose that a new release of Numeric be posted (to
include the recent bug fixes), and then the changes made for inclusion
in the next version number of Numeric.
