========================================= Numix - Thunderbird Tray Icons - README ========================================= "Numix - Thunderbird Tray Icons" is a icon set for the Linux GNOME-shell, whose purpose is to be used as tray icons for the mail client "Thunderbird". The icon pack contains a default icon and a icon, that indicates when unread messages are available. This icon set has been created to be used together with the GTK-theme "Numix". It has been designed to optically fit into the appearance of the "Numix"-theme and therefore it contains graphics, which have been taken from the accompanying "Numix-uTouch"-icon theme. The "Numix"-GTK-Theme and the "Numix-uTouch"-icon theme are available on Deviantart via the following URLs: GTK-Theme: http://satya164.deviantart.com/art/Numix-GTK3-theme-360223962 Icon-Theme: http://me4oslav.deviantart.com/art/Numix-uTouch-Linux-Desktop-Icon-Theme-389122876 ============== Installation ============== For using the icon set, the svg-files, that are contained by the subdirectory inside this package, can be extracted to any folder. For installing the icon set, the shell script INSTALL.sh can be used. This script, that has to be executed as root, automatically copies all relevant files to the folder '/usr/share/icons/Numix/status/22' of the "Numix-uTouch"-icon theme. When using the bash script, the installation of this icon set is possible by running the following commands in a terminal (the name of the zip-file maybe has to be adjusted to the actual version of the release): $ unzip numix-thunderbird-tray-icons-v.1.0.zip $ cd numix-thunderbird-tray-icons $ sudo ./INSTALL.sh Since version 3.0, GNOME does not support program tray icons in the shell's top panel anymore. Nevertheless, showing the tray icons of applications, can be forced by using a GNOME-shell extension such like "Topicons", which is available via the following URL: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/495/topicons/ Also Thunderbird does not support showing a tray icon by default. This functionality can be added by installing the Add-On "FireTry", which is available via the URL listed below or by using Thunderbird's built in search-function. In the Add-On's settings a custom icon and an indicator icon, which notifies about unread messages, can be specified. For both settings the path, the respective icon has been extracted to before, has to be chosen. The file 'thunderbird-default-tray-icon.svg' contains the default tray icon, the file 'thunderbird-indicator-tray-icon.svg' contains the icon, which notifies about unread messages. https://addons.mozilla.org/de/thunderbird/addon/firetray/ ======== Author ======== Michael Rapp (E-Mail: michael.rapp90@googlemail.com) This software has been published as open source according to the terms and conditions of the GNU General Public License Version 3.
