Ooops -- I just committed his patch, after he mentioned it in the last
email.  Since it had been sitting for two weeks, I assumed he wasn't
able to commit it.

I started updating the tests. so far I've done format_bytes.t.  It's
functionally the same as the previous version, just reworked to use
Test::More.

I'll wait to commit this, though.
