Hi, I've got a question about the web manager v2.2 everthing worked fine till I tried to start the server, I used the Readme.txt for as installation guideline. After trying to start the server with python2.4 ./src/server.py I got this message: /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/MySQL_python-1.2.2-py2.4-linux-i686.egg/_mysql.py:3: UserWarning: Module sqlobject was already imported from /home/mbdecke/nuffle/lib/python/sqlobject/__init__.pyc, but /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/SQLObject-0.10dev_r2667-py2.4.egg is being added to sys.path /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/MySQL_python-1.2.2-py2.4-linux-i686.egg/_mysql.py:3: UserWarning: Module formencode was already imported from /home/mbdecke/nuffle/lib/python/formencode/__init__.pyc, but /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/FormEncode-0.7.1-py2.4.egg is being added to sys.path Does anyone know what could be wrong ? Thanks, Markus |

You can view the "noob" installation guide online here: http://nuffle.cvs.sourceforge.net/nuffle/python/README.txt?view=markup It's also inside the download as README.txt -- Eric On 4/25/07, Peter Novak jr. <Pet...@gm...> wrote: > > > > > Hallo! > > > > I am to stupid to install the Thing, ist there a noob Install guide??? > > > > Lg > > Np > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express > Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take > control of your XML. If anyone can give me > some help here, it'd be greatly appreciated. I'm not a PHP guru, but I don't think this is the problem. $action is a variable picked up from the CGI paramterers sent to the page. The $action variable gets created automatically if there is a ?action=foo in the GET or POST data. This assumes register_globals = on as per: http://no.php.net/manual/en/security.globals.php (The manual states it is off by default, but I haven't encountered a setup where it is, or at least then I didn't reckognize one. Dunno what is the case for PHP 5 here). In this case PHP warns you about variables which have not been declared before they are used. It's a notice, so it shouldn't be critical. What I'm interested in is wether or not the changes (in your example, changing coach details), actually get written to the database, or if the page crash with the messages above. I'm more concerned about this one: > PHP Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Delimiter must not > be alphanumeric or backslash in > C:\Inetpub\nuffle\nuffle-1.0-Beta\webs\lib\init.php on line 179 PHP but as this is not at the end of your error trace, I'd assume it's not the source of the problem. The nuffle-1.0-Beta release did have rather critical bugs. As has been said, try updating your copy with the latest from CVS. I just read through the CVS changes and fixed some of them manually: webs/lib/lib_actions.php: } elseif ( $action == 'division_add' ) { // Division Actions //2005-05-05: Hans. CVS-bug: Divisions getting added to wrong season. if ( $season ) { division_add( $name, $season ); } else { division_add( $name ); } webs/plugins/games.php (At the top) global $season_id; //2005-05-05: Hans. Update from CVS. Also recall some problems with the $myUrl variable here and there, but I'm afraid I haven't noted anything in my current source code. I'd send you what I have, but we've modified this instance to high heaven, so I'm not sure you'd like it. :-D Hans ST |

Well, although I am able to view the pages, I seem to be unable to
actually start the season. I am able to create teams though.
Also, the following errors appear on most pages:

I do recall some PHP problems occuring on Windows. Was related to the
init code. A long time ago, so I'm not sure how relevant it is.
webs/lib/init.php
//2005-05-14: Hans. Changed ini_set to set_include_path to ensure foward
compatibility.
if ( defined("PEAR_DIR") ) {
/*
ini_set( "include_path",
ini_get( "include_path")
. $delim . PEAR_DIR
);
*/
set_include_path(
get_include_path()
. $delim . PEAR_DIR
);
}
/*
ini_set( "include_path",
ini_get( "include_path")
. $delim . "$fileRoot/plugins"
. $delim . "$fileRoot/plugins"
);
*/
set_include_path(
get_include_path()
. $delim . "$fileRoot/plugins"
. $delim . "$fileRoot/plugins"
);
But other than that, we need more info to help you, as Eric said.
I do recall getting nuffle to run on Windows without problems in the
past, but my recent attempts failed. A buddy of mine had a near equal
setup and got it working. Not sure what that is about.
I tried getting PHP up and running on Windows a few months back but
there was some compilation problem between the newest version of PHP and
the newest versions of Apache (2.2.2?). I found a recompiled PHP package
here:

Good Day, I've been trying to get Nuffle v1.0 working on my Windows server, and I've been having a few difficulties, probably stemming from the fact that I'm not all that familiar with PHP as yet. I was wondering if I might be able to get a little bit of help with this. In return, I'd be more than willing to provide a summary of any changes that need to be made to make it work on a Windows platform. Regards, Jason Fawcett |

Hello, I run a BloodBowl league and we use your software to manage our teams (v2.2). Thanks for providing it for us to use :-) I would like to ask a quick question pertaining to editing players skills after you have already chosen them. As far as I can tell, there is no way from the user interface, or an admin interface to remove a skill form any given player. I have several coaches asking to change skills or to remove one because they accidentally added two (since a function allows adding extra skills form the editing menu). Is there any simple way to remove or change skills form players? If not, is there a relatively simple way to edit the database itself to remove the skill and allow it to be reselected? I can think of other workarounds (involving hiring/firing extra players/game report doctoring etc) but would prefer to be able to do it more professionally. I sadly do not know MySQL or python or much of anything past BASIC (as used on an apple IIc). The person who set the system up for me doesn't play and isn't readily available to assist me. I would very much appreciate any help you could provide! Thanks in advance, Greg S. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! The error message you're experiencing says that it cannot find the
"nuffle" section within the nuffle.cfg configuration file.
I'm guessing that you're not launching Nuffle while your cwd (current
working directory, or the directory you're in just as you launch
Nuffle), is the root of the nuffle dir. You want to be in the same
directory as the *.cfg files when you launch Nuffle.
The other alternative is that you either haven't created the
nuffle.cfg file (there is a sample nuffle.cfg.sample file included
within the download), or that you haven't changed the dir.root
configuration variable to use a Windows-style path.
Let me know if that solves your issue.

Hi guys,
i'm Xavier, a french guy organising for the 3rd year a real blood bowl
league (i mean not online :)).
As the rules are changing this year, i looked up for a new software to
manage my league, and i thought about using the web to do so. And i saw
your program...
The thing is that i'm using windows, and i have problems with your
instructions. I think i managed to go throught the first 4 steps, but
then i have problems using the python. When i use the data.py, it gives
me back an error :
file "c:\nuffle\src\data.py", line 11, im?
sys.path.insert(0, cfg.get('nuffle', 'dir.lib.python'))
file "c:\python24\lib\ConfigParser.py", line 511, im get raise
NoSectionError(section)
ConfigParser.NoSectionError: No Section: 'nuffle'
I do not know anything about Python, mysql and linux, but i think maybe
that could be a path error, or an uncompatibility between Linux and
Windows path. But it also may be something else.
I write to you as my last hope :), and waiting from you nothing less
than a miracle :)..
Thank you anyway :)
Xavier

The error message in your screenshot says that there is no section "nuffle" within what it thinks is your nuffle.cfg file. This probably means that you either haven't created the nuffle.cfg file (using nuffle.cfg.example per the installation instructions), or that when you're launching Nuffle you're not doing it from the root nuffle directory, so it doesn't know where to find this file. -- Eric On 8/19/06, Guilhem Arlat <gui...@wa...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I'm trying to install your bloodbowl manager on my Windows XP computer but i > can't do it. I've packaged and released v2.2 of the Nuffle Blood Bowl Web Manager. Aside from bug fixes and the odd feature enhancement, the primary changes in this release are support for Postgres and an update to the PBBL 1.12 ruleset. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/nuffle/nuffle-2.2.tar.gz?download Cheers. -- Eric |

The error you're seeing on http://localhost:8042/ indicates that you
haven't created a static frontpage html file. In the packaged 2.1
release I've included a sample file that by default will be used if
you make no configuration changes.
Thanks a bunch for creating this README, it's quite similar to what's
in the packaged 2.1 release. If you don't mind I'll cherry pick a bit
of your README and add it to the README in the CVS repsitory.

Personally I won't be investing any more development time on the PHP/LRB version of Nuffle BBWM. I am 100% willing to make releases for the PHP version however, and either apply patches or grant CVS access to anybody interested in continuing development. The database structure is different between the 1.0 (PHP) and 2.1 (Python) versions. However I wrote a script that migrates data from the old schema to the new schema. You'll find it at bin/convertDbFromLegacy.py within the packaged 2.1 release: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/nuffle/python/bin/convertDbFromLegacy= .py?view=3Dmarkup You're right, I wrote the Python version to scratch my personal itch of moving our Blood Bowl league on to the PBBL ruleset. The language change happened because I'm a Python nut. Most of my changes are spurred from bugs/features prompted by the Oakland Blood Bowl League. I agree Hans, I'd be stoked if we could get lots of people interested in contributing to development. As I've already said, I'm open to patch submissions or wholehearted CVS access to anybody interested to contribute. Also, I'd like to assemble a list of leagues running BBWM, so if you know of one please let me know. Sorry about dropping off the map, I've had my head down working on the 2.1 release. Justin Judd, the originator of BBWM and creator of the PHP version, moved to Australia at the beginning of this year and it's taken me a bit to get a hold of the reigns. Cheers. -- Eric --- Hans Toemmerholt <ha...@on...> wrote: > > From: Eric Bieschke [everyman+nuffle@gma] > > Sent: 2006-04-30 06:13:03 CEST > > To: nuf...@li... > > Subject: [Nuffle] Nuffle Blood Bowl Web Manager > v2.1 Released > > > > Nuffle Blood Bowl Web Manager v2.1 Released > > > > We've been running the Oakland Blood Bowl League > (http://obbl.org) off > > of the 2.1 source since the beginning of the year. > It's now ready for > > public consumption.
