Hi, just for the record: I got a Performa 5200 from a friend on the weekend. It worked right away with the latest miBoot ISO found in the download section at SF. I just had to press the C key until the disk symbol appeared and a warm miBoot screen was showed :) I takes a quite long time until the system actually starts (i.e. before kernel messages appear). Further the current miBoot image is "hard coded" to nbpmacfb driver, which is not the optimal choice for the Performa 5200. After I changed it to <auto detect>, valkyrie was chosen instead, which gave a nice looking penguin during boot. I ordered a "Asante MacCon MC LC" PDS-based card on eBay recently, which is supported according to the nubus-linux site (the Performa hosts a hell of connectors on its back, though Ethernet is missing so far). So I'm looking forward to do a complete installation of e.g. Debian soon. Cheers, Florian |
