I’m ecstatic that my Powerbook 1400 with the Sonnet 466 upgrade can FINALLY get past “MMU: exit” on the boot screen and BOOT!
However, I need to install Debian on my system to make use of linux, and I can’t seem to get it to run the installer. Before I got the Sonnet upgrade, I was able to download one of the ramdisk installer images you guys so generously provided on the nubus-pmac website, but unfortunately, being that the current kernel is the first and only kernel that supports the upgrade, there aren’t any ramdisk installer kernel images available.
I’ve tried using BootX because it supports ramdisks, and although I can hear the kernel attempting to start (the speaker makes a click-click-click sound when the TREX interrupts/memory addresses are mapped), I can’t see anything; no video on my screen at all.
Thus, I can only ask for one of two things:
1) Can somebody tell me how I can create a ramdisk kernel image, or point me in the right direction for loading the installer for Debian Sarge with MkLinux and the new kernel?
2) Can somebody provide me with a ramdisk installer kernel image?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks for all your hard work guys; I’m excited!
