I have developing a non-XML textual syntax that can be used to create MOF models. For example, this notation can define the metamodels for UML, MOF, etc. The tool does not work with NSMDF yet, but hopefully it will as soon as NSMDF is updated to match JMI PFD 2.

I have posted an example instance of the proposed syntax and a proposed grammar to the netbeans.public.mdr.users newsgroup, which is on the news.netbeans.org news server. The article title is "Simple Syntax for Mof Models." Please read the original message and any replies to learn more about the tool.

If you are unable to get the article I posted, email me (brian-l-smith@uiowa.edu) and I will send the message to you directly.

I would like to get everybody's feedback on the syntax I am proposing. Any and all suggestions, comments, and criticism is greatly appreciated. I hope to finalize the syntax within the next 14 days, so if you have a suggestion for a change, please give it to me ASAP.

    Thanks,
    Brian Smith

Sorry, sourceforge reformated my link into something unintelligable.  The URL is the text starting with "news:" and ending with "@uiowa.edu"

Actually, the newsgroup also has an mailing list associated with it. Here is a link to the archived message on the netbeans.org website:

There is a human usable textual notation for models activity at OMG:

      ftp://ftp.omg.org/pub/docs/ad/02-04-11.pdf

It is just presentation, there are more documents available on ftp site.
