I've tried the current iso burned twice on two different machines, my p2 233 laptop and my p3 500 desktop, both of them panic at:

invalid compressed format (err=1)<6>Freeing initrd memory: 60009k freed

Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 01:00
----------------

any ideas?

  How much memory do you have on your laptop and or desktop?
  
  You will need at least 128Mbs for booting NST and to do basic things...
