Sorry for the huge delay in replying; I tried replying to the SF email and didn't realize that SF was dropping it. (What's with the bug reporter for this project? Your other projects behave properly on SF!) Sigh.

Anyway, 1.2.3 works with MacPorts' version of 1.12.X wireshark, except, of course, the MacPorts wireshark is broken. It's usable, but you get a "Unknown message from dumpcap: Method userSpaceScaleFactor in class NSView is deprecated..."

On Mac, 1.99.6+ is definitely the way to go. It works fairly flawlessly.

(It's a pain to switch between versions because each program leaves a LOT of cruft all over the filesystem, from launch daemons to symlinks to pref files... Shitty practices, people.)

Anyway.

1) The regex you used in the 1.2.3 release works fine with the macports 1.12.X wireshark.

2) However, macports installs all executables in /opt/local/bin (by default, the user can change this). 1.2.3 only looks in /usr/local/bin for executables. Symlinking works, but is annoying.

3) I tested wireshark -k -S -l -i [fifo] with several different pcap files under the "official" wireshark 1.99.6 app, as requested. It worked flawlessly.

Again, sorry for the delay in replying. (Stupid SF)

Your time and effort on this is very much appreciated!

A year later (nearly) I finally added support for wireshark 2.0
