#1 Not supporting shapefiles in latitude/longitude

After importing a shapefile which contains coordinates
as latitude/longitude the polygon is not displayed. A
horizontal line is displayed across the screen -
suggesting the the default extent has not been updated
- and the coordinates at the bottom of the screen are
show as (-1.#INDO,555018.000000)
