Copied from the N++ bugs trackers, as donho marked it as a explorer plugin issue:
Notepad++ 5.3; Find in Files; Loses directory tracking;
How to reproduce:
1) Select folder of desired search in Explorer window.
2) Choose [Find in Files...] option from context menu or from Explorer
toolbar.
3) In appeared Find in Files dialog, Directory field remains unchanged.
Expected:
Find in Files Directory of search changes upon selecting different folder
in Explorer plugin. This worked fine in N++ 5.2

It's not the fault of the explorer plugin because Light Explorer 1.8.2 has the same issue.
I really use this feature of these plugins a lot, so I'm looking forward to it working again.

Correction: LightExplorer UNICODE v2.0 plugin suffers from the same issue as the Explorer v1.8.2 plugin does.
When you select "Find in files" from the pop-up menu that appears when right-clicking a directory in the plugin windows, the "Directory" text box is not populated with the selected directory.
Deleting my configuration files did not solve the problem.

This is a missbehaviour of Notepad++ IMO. But it seems to be that this "unwanted" behaviour is removed in version RC 5.4.
