It seems there's a patch floating around for adding XFT support to ion3 - for
example I found it at

It seems Tuomo was not too impressed by this patch (for example
http://lists.berlios.de/pipermail/ion-general/2007-December/000912.html ).
To be quite honest, I hardly know what XFT *is*, but it appears people care
about it. Is it possible to support XFT (as a run-time option), so people who
want it have it but it isn't forced upon others?
Does anyone know who wrote this patch and how it's licensed? Do we want this?
