#11 No feedback in the update process. (may not work at all)

Problems with the Update process:
1. When I choose update while I'm not connected to the internet I get no
message that there's no network. What I see is a window saying
"downloading downloads xml" which disappears in a few seconds, and that's
all. There should be a message saying something like "No internet
connection detected".

2. Even when I'm connected to the internet, I just get the message
"downloading downloads xml" which again disappears and no more feedback is
provided.
I mean the fields "Lates Version" and "Release Notes" are not populated and
I don't get tha message like "you have already the latest version" or
"there's a newer version, would you like to download it now?"
