searching a small text file (44K) on winxp, 512MB, P3 1GHz machine makes n++ hang. The file is off from www.toronto.com , the front page.
I have tested the same function on other bigger files and it works fine.
any explanation for this ?
Which n++ version do you use?
It hangs when you search what?
More description will help to answer your question.
sorry for the lack of information.
use n++ v2.8. i have tried the terms 'www' and 'html' , both hang..
Use v2.9 which fixes some search/replace bugs.
Please let me know if the bug is reproduced.
thanks for the reply.
i tried the v2.9 just now. unfortunately, it's no better than the previous version on this matter, the counting is giving the same problem. and there is a new problem too : drag file to n++ and it hangs too.
however, i noticed that it's the same file(the index html file of toronto.com) causing the problem. the file contains one line and it's a loooong line.
the memory usage skyrockets when i either drag the file to n++ or do counting on the file, then it hangs. this file is about 110K. the problems are gone (still bit lagging) when i reduce the file size to 10K.
Could you send your file (original one) to :
