Thank you for your reply, but this doesn't seem to work.
1. I paste a paragraph into Notepad++
2. In settings>preferences>editing>line wrap, I select either "default," "aligned," or "indent."
3. There is no change in the word wrapping.
If I instead use View>Word wrap, I get the desired behavior. However, this setting reverts back to non-word wrap by the next time I open Notepad++. Am I missing something?

May be a bit late or already posted but, to get Notepad++ to Word Wrap go to the 'View' tab and select Word Wrap and under Settings > Preferences> Edit> you can set the type of Wrap needed.

Every time I close Notepad++, it reverts back to the non-word wrap behavior. Is there a way to make it word wrap by default?
Yes - in Preferences on Editing-tab choose one of the 3 wrap-settings.

Does N++ keep other config changes, like find history or displaying line numbers?

Doh, I didn't test for that. Thank you, Chris. I believe this must have something to do with my replacing Windows default notepad via http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/12617/how-to-replace-notepad-in-windows-7/ .
I'm going to investigate further. Thanks again.
