I consistently have problems with Smart Highlighting when not using the Default theme.
I would like to use dark themes such as "Plastic Code Wrap" but pretty much no matter how I set Global Styles / Smart Highlighting I don't have acceptable highlighting.
On of the issues is that the background color doesn't truly "knock out" the background of the theme (probably by your design/intent). This means that the "Smart Highlight" is obscured by the dark background almost no matter how I set SH background and foreground.
Maybe I'm missing something, but right now, this apparent shortcoming has me constantly switching to white backgrounded themes (which I generally do not like for eyestrain reasons).

I should mention, "Enable Global Background Color" is NOT enabled.
The one "dark" theme I found where highlighting is not so much of a problem is "Techmantium_Neon.xml"
This led me to realize there is a difference between style: selected text and style: smart highlighting
Still, there doesn't seem an obvious correlation between these styles and actual highlighting.
Is there a realistic use description somewhere? The included HTML help file describes what should happen, but not what it actually does.
Then again, as with CSS in web pages, perhaps something somewhere is overriding something else!
