My Notepad++ DOESN´T WORK

  • Nobody/Anonymous

    Hi!Last week all was working fine but yesterday notepad++ stoped working.
    It gives me an error when I try to open the program, like:"Can't find Element". And that's it, the program doesn´t start.
    If anybody can help me, i would be grateful because this is my favourite editor.

      I tried to put, like you said, the configuration files in a backup folder but even so, the program doesn´t start and it gives me the same error.

        Did you try to remove nativeLang.xml ?

      I think the configuration files got messed up. Move them to some backup folder and try starting N++ then. It should launch normally, and re-generate all the files with default options. You can then compare it with Your backup and try to find out what was the problem.

      In that case it may be either a corrupted registry or corrupted program files.
      If you are patient, you may try to browse/search the registry looking for any N++-related entries and deleting or manually editing them. It may be, for example, an invalid program path in the file extensions actions (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT).
      Or maybe reinstalling the program will work.
