Windows 7, Home Premium, 64 bit.
I was trying to edit my hosts file. Using the File|Open facility, and searching down through the folders, it did not show me the etc folder in windows/system32/drivers.
See image attached which shows the FileOpen window together with an explorer window.
What is happening ? How can I fix it ?
Sorry; couldn't attach the image.
I tried to access the etc as well with Notepad++ but Windows doesn't seem to allow it. If you really need to edit the host file then run Notepad as administrator and then navigate to the host file.
Just got the issue. It seems there's an invisible redirection from windows, here is some more intel:
In the file open, you can navigate to drivers where there's no 'etc', then type etc in the address bar and u'll be ok.
