    Ack!

can anyone make a suggestion about ways to prevent NPP from crashing when I do a global search & replace?

NPP just shuts down afer a few moments of running the function.

I would be sooo soo grateful to have this problem go away!

Any hints as to where the dump file might be?
Am using Vista, have looked through installation folder, some app data folders, and temp folders.

      Hi,

dump file is created during crash, and info message tells you where it is stored. When you experience crash, do you get any messages or does application just disappear from the screen?

    Hi d p,

can you create a log using this program:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20028
Download "ApplicationVerifier.amd64.msi" version, install, and then follow instructions within application itself.

    Or is this too technical?

    BR,
    Loreia

your reply is much appreciated! Thank you!

Shouldn't be too technical - but I see there's already something called File Verifier++ on my system - a bunch of dlls from 2010.

Wondering if I should ignore that. Yes/ No?

And completely aside, does NPP have a file recovery plugin - so that unsaved work reappears after I restart?

    Hi dp,

File Verifier++ is some other program. Don't use it.

Bad to worse now - getting a message that dll explorer library won't load. Time to uninstall and start over...

Could you list the plugins you use?
Also it'll be more helpful to provide your Notepad++'s version and your environment info.

      Don

This is almost certainly a plugin issue. Can you run Notepad++ few days with Plugins subfolder renamed to say Plugins2, and report here if it still happens.
