    I liked the old context menu shortcut, before it was removed and re-added.  That one appears in the top section of the context menu and says Notepad++.  The new one appears much farther down and says Edit with Notepad++.  What versions had the old context menu item (in case I need to re-install Notepad++)?

      Did you mean something like this?:

      REGEDIT4
      [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Notepad++\command]
      @=notepad++ "%L"

        Same place, but the data for that key looks like this: "C:\Program Files\Notepad++\notepad++.exe" "%1" <-- that is a number one, not a letter L

      The "%L" is for long file names,
      with "%1" only 8.3 names are used!
