I am trying to build Notepad++ from source using VS 2008 Express Edition, Windows Server 2008 and boost 1.55.0. I have run the command "BuildBoost.bat --toolset msvc-9.0 your\boost\install\folder" only to be greeted with the error:
"getboostver.mak(15) : fatal error U1052: file 'boostpath.mak' not found
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Where did you run the command from?
I have found out that the only reliable way is to locate the VS command prompt externally, not from inside VS proper. Looking for "VS" from Start menu just works.
Just to check - you are replacing "your\boost\install\folder" with where you extracted the boost zip file to? This needs to be an absolute path - there are issues if this path is relative.
Download the boost_1_55_0.zip from http://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost/1.55.0/ and extract to d:\boost
Then your command would be
buildboost.bat --toolset msvc-9.0 d:\boost
