window that pops up every time a change is made

When making changes to a program a window pops up covering what
I need to see. I am running the latest version. This did not happen
in the previous version. There are hundreds of settings, so how
do I turn off this window?
    Thanks for Notepad++

Can you post a screenshot of the window that pops, or at least describe
what's in it, what it says etc?

I might have posted this image more than once as
I am having lots of trouble with the Source Forge web site.

Hope this is what you need.
    Thanks for the reply.

I went back to V6.5.4. and the annoying popup window
still occurred. Then I went back to v6.5.3 and no window
popped up. I'll be hesitant to ever update Notepad++
in the future. It also would be nice to be able to change
the color of the line numbers on the left. They are very
    hard to read in grey.
All in all a very nice program. Thank you so much for it.

    Hi Jack,

try to disable Auto-completition in Preferences.

    Hello, Jack,

You can easily change, both, the foreground or the background colour of the line number margin :-)

    • Select the menu Settings - Style Configurator...

    • Click on Global Styles, in the Language zone

    • Click on Line number margin, in the Style zone

    • Click on the Foreground colour. You may choose a darker grey or even black for numbers

    • Click on the Background colour. You may choose a lighter grey or even white

    • It also possible to check the bold square box, to get a better contrast between numbers and the grey default background.

But, to my mind, the best would be to display the line numbers with a different font ( Font name zone ), which has a default bold type. On my Win XP configuration, 8 fonts improve readability of line numbers. There are :

    • font Albertus Extra Bold

    • font Antique Olive Compact

    • font Arial black

    • font Consolas

    • font Fixedsys

    • font Helvetica 95

    • font Impact

    • Font System

Of course, it doesn't change, at all, the normal text font ( Default Style )

Don't forget to click on the Save & Close button !

See an example of the different possible changes, on the attached picture Jack.png, below.

    Best regards,
