First things first, great editor. Unfortunately there is a bit of a show stopping problem with it for me. The files I work on are stored on a cloud based linux server that I connect to over a vpn. This connection is a mapped drive in windows 7.
When notepad++ gets the Alt-tab focus it usually (but not always!) hangs for maybe 10 - 15 seconds as it painfully slowly redraws the screen from top to bottom. You can imagine my frustration....

If this is a bug, please fix it. If it is user error, please tell me how I can stop swearing at your otherwise wonderful product!

I have just upgraded to latest version. The issue is still occurring. Does anyone have any idea what can be causing this? I can seriously wait 20 seconds to regain control of my system when alt-tabbing to notepad++. The whole thing is locked as the screen is painfully re-drawn from top to bottom .. to the point where the caps lock light on my keyboard doesn't even respond! What is this app doing to effect my system this badly?
Whether this lock up occurs is random. I can alt tab between programs (without doing anything in the other program) and 50/50 chance of my machine locking up.
The number and size of files I have open seem to have no bearing on the length of the lock-up.

Ok I think I have worked out the problem, or rather what was causing it.
It was the project panel. When its open with a list of maybe 70 files on the mapped drive I get the issue. With the tree closed, no issues.
So for some reason it looks like notepad++ is going and touching every file on the project list when it regains focus. Though interestingly not every time ...
So the work around is to close the project tree, and only open it when you need to access another file. Its a bit of a pain, but nothing compared for having the machine freeze for 20secs.

Is there any chance of a fix for this?...whilst I usually remember to close the project tree before switching to another program, but sometimes I forget ... and spend 20 seconds with a locked machine.

I would try a few things.
Maybe with a bit more information we can track down the problem.
