I often use Notepad ++ instead of Excel but would like to lock the first row (field names in SCV files). Is this possible or could it be considered for development please.

    TIA

    Hi Ian,

    try doing this.
    1. Right click tab, Clone to other view
    2. Right click separator, select Rotate option (either one)
    3. Drag separator up, until juts one row is visible

    Is that good enough?

That's good, but not good enough ;-) IMO it's too many clicks for such a simple task (I need it from time to time). Other editors (e.g Textpad) have the split feature (horizontal and vertical).

    Hi Al,

I just installed Textpad, and I can't see either "split document" or "lock first row" options anywhere. How do you do the same thing in Textpad?

    Regards,
    Loreia

It's very simple and is the same way as it's in Excel: in the vertical and horizontal scroll bar (top on vertical, left on horizontal) there are thick ticks that can be dragged with the mouse. As simple as that!

Or via the menu Window -> Split

    Hi Al,

I see, that is indeed very elegant. Now we just need to make Don interested in implementing these :- )
