I recently had to submit a list of all tools I use at my job along with their licensing information. I was just told by company lawyers not to use Notepad++ in the development process because it uses the GPLv3 license. Evidently our lawyers "won't accept anything that is GPLv3". Good luck with that one.
We aren't redistributing Notepad++. I'm simply using it to edit our CSS and HTML parts because it's far better than any text-editor plugin for Eclipse. So, this really makes no sense. Why they would track what text editor I use while working is beyond me. God, I hate lawyers...

Maybe portable Notepad++ will suit you better.
commerical guys have mixed feelings about GPL. :)
