does anyone know howto get Smarty as HTML highlighted in Notepad (v.5.4.5) ?
I tried playing a bit with the XML files but unfortunatly it did not work.

I'm not sure what are you asking exactly.
If you need support for highlighting a template with the Smarty syntax you have to download the API and install it as a User Defined Language (see https://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=2883976&forum_id=331753 ).
If your template is already highlighted as Smarty and you want it to be highlighted as HTML just select HTML from the Language menu.
